Food for Thought

Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

Sarah Williams
from "The Old Astronomer to His Pupil" in Best Loved Poems of the American People

I love this...
I put it here, there, and everywhere more for me than for you gentle readers.
Hopefully you enjoy it too.

So glad that you posted this. The line about the stars and the dark has been stuck in my heads for weeks - but I didn't know the proper wording or by whom it was said, so it was proving difficult to track down.

Now I know.
