It figures...

Fertility Goddess Asherah: Was 'God's Wife' Edited Out of the Bible?

Didn't she "enhance" the plot?
Perhaps she outshone the male protagonist?
More power to the "uppity female"!

The (mostly) Marvellous Memoirs of a Modern Medieval Maven

fret not, I shall still be here...
This is just something new, separate, and focused.

International Women's Day

I abhor the term "feminist" - all I want is to be considered an equal and have equity in this Game of Life.

Jerk

Canadian PM Harper wants to make all official communications come from the "Harper Government", not the "Government of Canada"???

A rebranding of the 'Harper Government'

He re-branded the Canadian Government by CUTTING CANADA OUT of the name.
Nice, eh?

I think 'Harper Regime' sounds good, don't you?

We already have the Loonie (1$ coin) and the Toonie (2$ coin). Why not a $3 coin called the Harpoonie? it has a nice ring to it, non?

Perhaps there should be Harper statues erected? and some Harper Palaces?

It worked for Saddam Hussein, the Ayatollah, Lenin and even Gadhafi — at least for a time.

I'm sorry but it's the Canadian Government, not the Harper Government!

Silly delusional narcissistic prime minister!

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn.
~Henry David Thoreau

It's really blustery out there tonight. Any wagers as to whether my power stays on or not? That old willow in the ravine by the main grid link... it's a'swaying.

Cheers!

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes...the ones who see things differently...they're not fond of rules...
They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to... think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
~Steve Jobs

You heard the man! Get busy!

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
~ Neil Gaiman

Balls! Balls! balls!... for Christmas.

Domestic Witch is collecting balls again this year.

Here are mine.
It's a recipe my Mom got centuries ago from a Swedish friend - hence the name "Swedish Balls"

Swedish Balls

3 cups rolled oats
1/2 lb butter
2 cups white sugar
4 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp strong coffee

Mix all ingredients well. Shape into small balls. Roll in white sugar. Refrigerate.

That's it. No baking. Pretty simple, eh?

baby, it's cold outside ...

Brew me a cup for a winter's night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love and stir it with care,
And I'll toast our bright eyes,
my sweetheart fair.
